About Caitlin Burns, MA
Caitlin is in her third year of clinical experience working closely with Dr. Jinariu, specializing in trauma-focused treatment with adolescents and adults. Caitlin's experience includes treating traumatic grief, anxiety, depression, panic, autism spectrum disorder, developmental disruption, adjustment issues, self-esteem, and family conflict and separation. With her clients, Caitlin emphasizes mindful emotional expression, physiological regulation, positive coping, non-judgemental processing, and building awareness of the mind-body connection. Caitlin often uses imagery, metaphor, and narrative approaches with clients in order to help them more deeply understand their emotional and relational dynamics. As a trauma-informed psychodynamic clinician, Caitlin balances necessary education and skillbuilding with providing a helpful and containing therapeutic relationship wherein her clients can fully explore their inner worlds.

Caitlin is pursuing her Doctor of Clinical Psychology (Psy.D) degree from Azusa Pacific University. She earned my Masters of Arts (MA) in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University in 2023, and her Bachelor’s of Science (BS) in Psychology from Santa Clara University in 2016. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and The Gottman Method (Level II). Additionally, she has training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Time Limited Dynamic Therapy (TLDP), Motivational Interviewing for Substance Abuse, Play Therapy, Child Abuse Assessment and Reporting, Safety Planning, and Traumatic Bereavement in children.
In addition to her clinical training, Caitlin is a certified trauma-informed yoga instructor. She teaches trauma-informed yoga classes and workshops, including breathwork, meditation, and mindfulness interventions. She is trained in Trauma-Informed Yoga, Yin Yoga, Essential Oil Aromatherapy, Contemporary Ayurveda, and Yoga for Social Justice. Caitlin's doctoral research is on implementing trauma-informed yoga practices into clinical therapy, which she successfully defended as her dissertation in 2023.
