ADHD Assessment
At Therapy SoCal, an ADHD assessment is about understanding the whole child—not just attention or activity level. Many children and adolescents who struggle with focus, impulsivity, or organization are working incredibly hard behind the scenes. A comprehensive assessment helps clarify what’s really going on and how best to support them.

Our ADHD evaluations are thorough and individualized. The process typically includes caregiver interviews, developmental and educational history, standardized rating scales, direct assessment of attention and executive functioning, and careful consideration of emotional, behavioral, and learning factors. This comprehensive approach allows us to differentiate ADHD from learning disabilities, anxiety, trauma, sleep concerns, or other factors that can impact attention and regulation.
ADHD often presents differently across settings and can look very different from one child to another. Some students struggle primarily with inattention, others with hyperactivity or impulsivity, and many experience challenges with executive functioning such as planning, time management, emotional regulation, and task initiation. Our assessments are designed to identify these patterns clearly and thoughtfully.

A central goal of ADHD assessment at Therapy SoCal is school-based advocacy. Findings can support IEP or 504 Plan eligibility, inform appropriate accommodations, and guide collaboration with teachers and school teams. Reports are written in clear, practical language and include specific, actionable recommendations that can be implemented in the classroom and at home.

At Therapy SoCal, we view assessment as a supportive and empowering process. With the right understanding and tools, children with ADHD can build confidence, strengthen self-awareness, and access the supports they need to thrive academically and emotionally.
