About Taylor Lazo, MA

I am commencing my second year of clinical practice, working under the supervision of Dr. Melissa Jinariu. My experience consists of working with children and adolescents in school-based settings and working with adults in community counseling settings. I work with clients and their families to navigate various psychological stressors such as trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, and more. I approach treatment from a Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy approach with an emphasis in trauma-informed treatment. My commitment to clients leads me to tailor interventions to their individual needs.

Education & Training

I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University. I earned my Masters of Arts (M.A.) in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University in May 2024 and Bachelor’s of Arts (B.A.) degree in Intensive Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2022.

During my undergraduate studies, I worked at an alternative high school providing academic and emotional support for students with diverse identities. I have also previously volunteered with Student Health Services at Mt. San Antonio College by working with Case Managers, various licensed Psychologists and therapists, and the Director of Behavioral Sciences to provide the best possible care for students. My dissertation focuses on foster and adoptive families as I have a passion for working with this population and ensuring foster and adoptive parents understand the mental health implications commonly found among this population.

I am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1), Motivational Interviewing for Substance Abuse, Child Abuse Assessment and Reporting, and Safety Planning. As a clinician of faith, I am open to the possibility of faith integration and welcome clients to express their experiences of faith in treatment.
