Learning Disability Assessment

At Therapy SoCal, we believe that understanding how a child learns is the foundation for meaningful support—at school, at home, and beyond. When academic struggles persist despite effort and support, psychological testing can provide clarity, direction, and a path forward.

Our comprehensive evaluations for learning disabilities are designed to identify a child’s unique learning profile, including strengths, challenges, and the factors that may be interfering with academic progress. Assessments examine cognitive abilities, academic achievement, attention, memory, language, and emotional functioning to ensure an accurate and nuanced understanding of the child’s needs.

We take a thoughtful, individualized approach to testing. The process includes caregiver interviews, record review, standardized assessment measures, and—when appropriate—collaboration with schools. Our goal is not only to determine whether a learning disability is present, but to translate results into practical, meaningful recommendations.

A central focus of our evaluations is advocacy within the school setting. Families receive a clear, comprehensive report that can be used to support IEP or 504 Plan eligibility, guide school-based interventions, and strengthen collaboration with educational teams. Recommendations are written with implementation in mind, helping parents feel informed and empowered when navigating meetings and services.

At Therapy SoCal, we view assessment as a supportive and collaborative process—not a label, but a tool. With the right information and advocacy, students with learning differences can access the accommodations and support they deserve and move forward with confidence.
