Dr. Alyssa Switaj
Licensed Psychologist PSY36652

Meet Dr. Alyssa
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY36652). I have experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families across a range of presentations, including developmental disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, and grief and loss. I have a special focus on administering assessments for suspected autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other related developmental disorders. I use a strength-based approach in my work, helping children understand that every brain develops and works in its own unique way and that I am there to learn more about them as individuals. My goal is to create a collaborative process that fosters an environment where each child feels heard and valued, while incorporating family feedback to develop tailored supports and recommendations.
Education & Training
I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University in 2024. My dissertation research focused on the impact of clinical anxiety and sleep patterns on cognitive functioning, brain structure, and brain activation in children. During my doctoral program, I provided therapy in a variety of settings, including schools, a university counseling center, and private practice. I also provided inpatient care and support at a children’s hospital and administered neuropsychological assessments. I completed my pre-doctoral internship as a School Psychology Intern, conducting psychoeducational evaluations to support school-based eligibility determinations for special education. My post-doctoral training included administering neuropsychological assessments for children and adolescents. I have experience administering the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2), as well as a range of cognitive, academic achievement, executive functioning, and other developmental assessments.
